Client Access Area?

I’m new to EE and just wondering if I am able to make a client access area and set permissions for different users (not just a blog member). For example, I want to be able to design websites using EE and set editable text content that my clients would be able to edit using a WYSIWYG editor. I guess I’m essentially looking for a way to build their own web based CMS so that they don’t have to use a designer (me) to update their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Stefan

    Hi, Stefan,

    Welcome to our community!

This is absolutely possible.  What you would do is have any areas that you wish to be editable to be entries in a particular weblog, and include an “Edit this” type link on the article.  You can even leverage the Pages module for things like “about us” or other similar types of pages.

The way permissions work is that you place members into a group and set permissions onto that group - you can then use template access restriction to restrict entire templates, or use conditionals to restrict parts inside a template to a particular group.

Best suggestion is to try it out. =)
