If I run a website that is mainly used for flash animation and forums, and I also happen to sell t-shirts, coffee mugs, and self-made comics that are derived from the animations on my page , would that be considered a personal liscence?

Also, looking at the themed templates that I can choose, it looks a lot like wordpress.  Does it basically work like wordpress?  I only know fairly basic html.

commerce… the selling of goods or trading, ie commercial, well that’s my take anyway, so I would say no,

Does it work like wordpress, no not really it is far more powerful but harder to use if you do not understand (X)HTML/CSS

away: as far as the commerce and personal license question, my advice is to email Sales, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and give them a detailed look at it—they will tell you for sure. But based on what your description is, and from previous posts like it which EE has answered, I think you may be okay with a personal license.  However, please email EE and ask—I may well be wrong in this instance.

Themes: No, I don’t think it works like wordpress—but I think even with your basic HTML knowledge, you could customize a template.  I would strongly suggest looking at Boyink’s series on building an EE site.  It will help tremendously, I think.

You might like to read our license FAQ, specifically the one on choosing personal vs. commercial. =)
