I know, there aren’t many political topics here, and I don’t really want to start a flamewar.  But today’s the anniversary of 9-11 in the United States, and I just wanted to pause for a second to remember those events and to commemorate those who lost their lives, both the victims and the rescuers.

Let us never forget that there are sometimes things more important that coding and EE and our jobs/websites/etc.

You know, on september 11th, it was an interesting day.  I woke up late, and only turned on the TV because I heard some students walking to class mention something about either a plane or a terrorist attack.  So I turned on the TV… and watched the rest of the day.  I think at that point the second tower had collapsed already, and I knew we would be going to war.  I still have a hard time watching the footage of those events.  I hear MSNBC replayed their two hours of coverage this morning again, like CNN did last year.

Here is a clip I’d never seen before—from the Naudet brothers documentary.  This was taken with the firefighters in the lobby of the North Tower at around 10 AM… so this is what the collapse of the south tower looked like next door.  Chilling, to say the least.  It’s a Youtube clip.

So once again, I will say, “Never forget” and also I will say a big “Thank you” to those who keep us safe—the emergency and military personnel who risk their lives so I can stay free.

    God bless them all!
