    Very nice site.

First question: can I important invision powerboard posts/user accounts etcetc over into the forum module of expression engine?

Second: Is there a way to add the “formatting” bit on the forum into the wiki editing box so that people who edit the wiki aren’t left to figure out their own html?

    That is all 😊

oh, one more thing, is there a WYSIWYG wiki module or forum module?

You are converting from IPB?  Well, you can of course import some of IPB’s info (some cannot be transferred over, alas—mostly things like secondary user groups and permission masks).  That is a custom job, however.

Second:  I’m not sure on the wiki, as I’ve not used it that much.  I can’t answer it, though I would imagine it would be possible.

I’m not sure what you mean by a WYSIWYG wiki or forum module….  seeing as you’ve posted here, you can see what the standard forum post screens look like.  It’s very similar to IPB’s add reply screen.

I’m not really too worried about custom user groups… just usernames+passwords, and forum posts really…

“cusom job” how so? i noticed there is a phpbb convertor, maybe you can go ipb->phpbb->ee?

Well, usernames and passwords wouldn’t be too bad, along with forum posts and topics.  It’s certainly been done before.  Each transfer would be slightly different, but it most certainly can be done.  The reason I say it’s a custom job is because for you, you don’t have to do permission masks, etc.  Others do, and everyone has a different preference on how they want some IPB data converted over.  Your job would be slightly easier.

I’d be careful about doing a ipb->phpbb->EE conversion.  The chances of losing data are much higher going that route, I would think (Two lossy transactions is not good).

What you can do is post a job board description; I noticed last week, I think, someone else was bidding out an IPB to EE conversion as well.  I’m not sure what the result was, but I imagine it was bid on.

What version of IPB?  The earlier versions are certainly easier to transfer (like IPB 1.3) than something like IPB 2.3.

version v2.0.0 Hmmm I wonder if anyone bidded. Is there a ballpark for how much this would cost?

I’m not sure, to be honest.  You could PM or email me, and we could discuss me doing the job, but really, why not just purchase a job credit and see what happens?

Vanceone is dead on- there isn’t an ‘out of the box’ importer for any forums.  Thus- to import one into EE’s forum would be a custom job.  Getting just the members in would be an easy task.  Getting the posts in would be less so.  The wiki has a rundown of a group effort to layout how to manually import phpbb- it would give you some idea of the issues involved.

As to formatting buttons in the wiki- I was surprised I couldn’t find a plugin, but didn’t spot one in a quick search.  It would be worth taking a look at this thread, however.

I just posted this in a different thread, but…

...I’m finishing up a IPB (Invision Power Board) to EE conversion for a client of mine. (Direct conversion; no intermediary phpBB or vBulletin.)

It’s basically just SQL (to migrate users, forums, topics, posts, polls [there’s still some manual work that needs to be done w/the polls], private messages, and attachments) and a simple PHP file (to copy avatars and image attachments).

I’m doing testing now and want to be done w/the migration completely next week.

The issues I’m working on right now have to do with file attachments showing up correctly in posts (probably an easy fix) and how I’m going to address the BBCode and HTML that isn’t rendering properly in posts (may need to do some regex on the data).
