Quick question about permissions

I’m in the process of moving my site over to EngineHosting and I had to go back in a change the permissions. I’ve recently started using WS_FTP and when I change the permissions on a directory for example, it asks me if I only want to change the permissions on that folder, or if I want to also change the permissions on the folders children.

Not sure what to select here…

On EngineHosting, you needn’t set the permissions.  See Derek’s Comment for an explanation.

Generally speaking, though, the folders in a fresh download have no subdirectories, however if you’re moving over an existing installation you’d want to include sub-folders.

I see. Thanks for the info. I went ahead and changed the permissions to include the files, folders, and the sub-folders before I asked the question, but I guess since I went to EngineHosting, I didn’t need to do that. I should have asked first. 😊

    Thanks Lisa.

There’s no harm in doing that, and I do so on my installation out of habit.  =)
