When I’m logged in and click today’s active threads I get no results returned - even though there are written messages this day.

If I’m logged out, I get some messages, but not all of today’s active threads.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

    *bump*

My users are also reporting on this now (as it’s a very popular feature and used a lot). They, like me, cannot see any system in which threads that are listed.

Is this a new problem, or has it been happening for a while?

If you use the default theme (assuming you haven’t modified it), does it work then?

Which build/version of EE and the forum?

    EE build: 1.6.0, Forum: 2.0.0

I just opened the forum, so AFAIK it’s happened since the start. It seems to happen regardless of theme used, although I can investigate this further.

Check out this post, which summarizes what the quick links do.  Based on that- are they operating as expected?

Hi Robin - no, unfortunately they do not work as expected.

    New Topics Search
    ————————-
If I look at the forum index I can see the folder-icons in a more distinct color indicating that new messages have been written in a certain forum since my last visit. Yet, when I click the New Topics Seach link I get an empty list or a list which does not contain all the new messages written since my last visit.

    Active Topics Search
    ——————————
This will not display the posts updated in the last 12 hours.

When I tested it just now I got 1 result in “New Topics Search” and 0 in Active Topics Search (I would expect 4 in new topics since 4 topics have been updated, and more in Active topics search).

I understand from the message you linked to that there is some confusion between topics and posts. The one result returned was an old topic, but which had new posts in it.

That’s the behaviour I expect (all topics which has been updated since last visit).

But if that is not the intended behaviour - if the behaviour is supposed to be entirely new topics created since last visit - then there is still something weird going on (since I was returned the old topic with a new post in it).

Just as a sidenote - I think the standard (and expected) behaviour for this kind of feature in a forum is “New posts” since last visit (e.g. it will show a list of all topics which have been updated since last visit). This goes for the software I’ve used earlier at least (InvisionBoard, phpBB and SMF).

It is looking for new topics- not replies.  But I’m not sure about you second finding.  Was the one returned in ‘Active Topics’ older than 12 hours?  Yet it was still returned?

Hmm, the one returned in “New topics” wasn’t a new topic at all - it was a reply to an existing topic.

    And “Active topics” returned nothing.

    Strange stuff :-|
