How many of you use a time tracking software of some sort? And if the answer is yes then which one? I have thought about this for awhile but have resisted because my train of thought is not serial but parallel so to track time I would literally need a little button on my dashboard that I could click to start/stop the timer.

    What have your experiences been?

I use Billings. It keeps track of my invoicing. It has a great little widget in the menu bar, that allows me to quickly switch between active projects, and start time-tracking.

Some of my clients are basecamp freaks, and then I duplicate my data in there.

Funny. I just found Billings and downloaded it. I use entourage though… I see it natively communicates with iweb. Do you use iweb or entourage?

iWeb? Do you mean Mail? I don’t really use too much of the integration parts with it.
I just love it on it’s own. 😊

I have been using Freshbooks (affiliate link) for some time now, and couldn’t be happier. It does all my timekeeping and invouicing, and, yes, it has a little “Start/Stop Timer” button. Free to test for up to three clients, I think.

Is there anything new in time tracking? I’m looking for a solution to manage a small team that can be installed on our own servers. Managing client projects, task-based. The project manager would have access to all individual team records. I’m sure there’s some good ones out there, but not finding many of those few most I’m finding are hosted.
Digging through a list of apps:

ActiveCollab is the best one for your needs. And if I remember correctly EllisLab uses it for their project management console. It is very good.

Billings 3 has really made it easy for me to keep track of projects. It’s intuitive to use compared to other apps I have tried and also good value.

Thanks to this thread I purchased Billings and am very happy with it. I tried out Freshbooks and had been using Basecamp for a number of years now and Billings is just right for what I need. My only criticism is that some of the invoice templates make rather large PDFs - I did not realise this until I tried sending a client an email with the 20mb pd invoice attached! This isnt a problem though as we should all be designing our own invoices.

The timeslips are a joy to use - (I set up a load of blueprints for the common things I do then edit them as I use them for each need)  but the best bit has to be the timers.

I’ve been using Basecamp for ages and was using Harvest to track time - but am now in the process of moving to Freshbooks because I just didn’t find the Harvest interface intuitive enough to use (although I tried).

Now I use an app called WorkLog on my iPhone to do the “stopwatch” hour tracking and then update properly later.

As for the invoices I haven’t found any of them look any good to me and produce my own.
