    hi,

I imported a blog into ee from MT and everything seems ok, except that when I try to display a list of categories, none of the ones imported show up. am I missing something?

    thanks!

What version/build are you running?  I think there was a bug a few builds back.  (And when you say ‘won’t show’- is that on the frontend, using the ‘categories’ tag?  Do they show up in the backend- for example, in the category manager?)

    I am running v 1.6.0

Yes, they do not display on the front-end using the category tag, but they do show up within the category manager and within the posts.

What’s the build number- it’s in the very bottom of the footer?  The latest is Build 20070815.  I suspect you’re on an earlier build- one where the imported cats weren’t being added to all tables.

If that’s the case, you’ll want to do a build update to get you current.  Then I can give you some php to get the tables synced.

Also- can you check for me whether the category url went in correctly?  So if the name of the category is ‘My New Category’- when you edit the new cat, you should see a url like ‘my_new_category’.

thanks Robin - it is an older build, Build:  20070621.

So, I will do the upgrade and let you know once I am done.

And it appears that the category urls are ok - there are underscores in place of spaces. thanks.

Hm- double check that the category urls are ok for categories that were created on import.  I just want to be sure before we go mucking about.  And I check the build log:

    Build:  20070724
*Fixed a bug where the MT Import Utility was not creating a category url title for inserted categories

So I’d suspect that maybe they weren’t created.  And while we’re double checking things- if you go to ‘Admin- Utilities- MySQL manager- Manage Tables’- look at the exp_categories and exp_category_field_data tables- do they have the same number of ‘Database Records’?

    Hi Robin,

ok, here’s the deal - I didn’t add any categories manually, they were all imported, but a few of them have the urls but for most of them, you’re right - the url field is empty. The tables to not have the same number of records - one has 30 and the other only 7.

I did the update to the newest build.

Did you update to the newest build before or after the import? And what does your build currently read at the bottom of your control panel? Also, have a look at the bug report that Robin submitted.

    Hi Lisa,

I did the update after the import. it’s “Build:  20070815”.

Robin was right about the urls - most of them are empty. I am not sure what to do now? Should I manually update the urls? Also - the ones that do what urls are not showing up on the front-end either, the only categories showing up were the pre-set ones “personal, blogging, news”!

For the update to have helped in this instance you would need to update *then* import, not the other way around.  You might want to consider wiping out the imported information and re-importing to see if that helped, or wait for the next build and the fix mentioned in that bug report.  If you do not have many entries, then manually fixing those url-titles may not be too painful.
