I was searching around for new CMS solutions and have found EE. I have downloaded the free version, but need some help and tips on how to migrate from Joomla. More specifically, the template.

The has a section on importing- but it’s largely focused on getting data in (MT Format is fully supported- so if you can get your data out in that format, bringing it in is a snap).

Templates are a bit of a different matter.  But in truth- I’d just go to the page, view source, copy/paste that into an EE template.  Then it’s mostly a matter of replacing the actual data with EE tags to output the dynamic data.  And of course, most folks chop their templates up a bit- make a global header, footer- maybe naviagation- using embeds or globals to pull that content into all templates- makes tweaks faster as you only have to do them in one spot.

I don’t know your setup- but would the general approach work?  EE can pretty much take any template you want and use the (x)html.
