Can I use EE for my classroom? I want each student to have a unique page . . .

I understand everything in the code snipet you gave me except for this part. What does “{segment_2}” mean?

    EEDocs:// URL Segments

I think I understand most of this Tim. The last bit that’s confusing to me is your last paragraph. I’m not up to that type of customization yet! But I’m willing to work through it. What do you mean by a login protected standalone entry form for entries?

A SAEF (stand alone entry form) is a way for registered users to add entries for a weblog or data container.

This means that your students log into the site, and then click on a link to add a post. It’s pretty easy to set up.

You can also set up customized RSS feeds based on author.

Using the method that Tim suggested you could build a bit of a community based site. This way if the students posted something it could be seen at http://www.myschool.com/blogs/JoeStudent/ but if the student simply left off the Joestudent then he/she could see all the posts from any given student in the class. Allowing them to comment and have a more rich blogging experience. It would serve as both a multi-authored blog and an 30 single blogs all in one.

Tim’s idea is good, but does that run on core?

I don’t think so but wasn’t there mention of an edu/non-profit license?

[quote author=“oldgoldblack”]And yes, Jake, you do not get paid nearly what you’re time and efforts are worth.

Thank you, sir, for your kindness in acknowledging that.

And thank you, everyone, who weighed in on this. I think I’m going to give Wordpress MU a shot on this. One install allows you to manage multiple blogs. Apparently there is also a plug-in available that gives you some great options on securing the entire installation of blogs and limiting access to the school community.

You EE users are amazing! I love this community!

I love EE and think it is the best product ever, but I keep thinking that Wordpress MU might be a little more what you are looking for. Also I am pretty sure that is the software that Edublogs runs.

    This is correct.

I would also like to repeat the recommendatin for moodle - it’s set up for educational purposes. I’ve been using it for a few years now and while it is slightly bloated and clunky it does a great job of delivering content online for educational purposes adn does include a blogging module (which I don’t use so can’t comment on the quality of it)
