I am running my site powered by Wordpress and my forums by Vanilla. Thinking about switching to EE. Are there any tools that would help me move my posts over? Is there a way to have each user have their blog?

If you can export your blog in the MoveableType format, there is an EE utility for importing. Not sure how you’d do it with Vanilla though. As far as each user having a blog, you’d have to set up each individually, there’s no automated way. Just so you’re aware, it’s against the EE license to set up a “blogging service” (ala blogger) using EE.

I see, well I had no problem moving my posts over. Lets say I want to have some authors with their own blogs. Thats against the policy?

I’m keying off the word “some”...It’s not necessarily against policy, it’s just that you can’t set up a blogging service like Blogger, etc. (a hosted blog service) And EE has no automated way to set up individual blogs. But there isn’t anything stopping you from doing it manually and having seperate authors either contributing to one blog/site or individual blogs/sections similar to the way a magazine/newspaper site has blogs for individual reporters/journalists.

Thats what I need. I don’t need a bunch of users just blogging. I want to sep up a few authors with permissions and their own weblogs. Other users would use forum style discussions for their posts. Which will be run by vanilla or bbpress.

You should be cool to go then, no policy problem there.
Edit-Add: Just to be clear, mine’s not an “official” answer but have been around EE/Forums long enough to know the issues fairly well.
