    Need Help

I’ve upgraded successfully to 1.6 build 20070726, then I install the multiple site manager, again all was fine, then when I activated the MSM in the control panel submit for update. It shows the site tab in the CP but if I logout then try to login it will not let me in. The screen just seems to refresh no error message. So I opened the config.php file and changed the “enable multiple sites to “n” and then I was able to login. What do I need to do so this work properly?

    Thank you

Since you can currently login, if you head to Admin -> Security and Session Preferences - what do you have set for both control panel and site login methods? Also, in Admin -> Cookie Preferences, what do you have entered in all 4 of those?

Control Panel Session Type:  Cookies and session ID
    User Session Type:  Cookies only

As for the Cookie Preferences: there are only three (3) am I missing something here?

    Cookie Domain: (this is blank)
    Cookie Path:  (this is blank)
    Cookie Prefix: (this is blank)

Nope, 3 is correct. For cookie domain, try adding your domain preceded with a period.  If you don’t use the period you’ll be locked out, so do use it. For example:

    .example.com

I added .edd.state.nm.us to the cookie domain as you requested, but if MSM is enables it will not let me log in, I have to disable to log in.

Each site managed by the MSM can have its own cookie domain. Have you tried setting it individually?

First of all I have yet to create a second site, after installing MSM and enabling it I haven’t been able to login, so if I login, then I enable MSM, should I create a second site before loging out? And how would I set the cookie domain individually for each site.
    Thanks

Actually, before we proceed with that - can you please update to the latest build and let us know if it helps? Thank you.

Hi I have upgraded to the 20070815 build, and I also used the 20070815 build for the Multiple Site Manager. upgraded both and it still will not let me login. But here is the really wierd part. When I changed my config.php this morning so I could login then I enabled the multiple sites option. I was eventually timed out of that control panel, but I never closed my browser, I.E. 7.0 when I tried loging in on the same browser it wll let me log in, so I opened another browser again IE 7.0 and it will not let me login. I then upgraded to the new build, on both EE and MSM then if I go to the same browser that I have open it will let me login. But if I open another browser window it will not let me login. Also If I open a new window from the current browser IE 7.0, that also will allow me to login. I hope this helps. Do you still want to send the information you asked for previously?
    Thanks,

Yes, I think it’s time that we go in.  If you can PM me the FTP and Superadmin details as asked for before I edited my post *grins* then that would be great. =)

Ok, I think I’ve got this one set.  With some help =) It appears that the cookies your site is setting is .nm.edu rather than the one you had in there. I changed your cookie domain to that and set it to cookies only, and it lets me log in with the MSM enabled.

    I also added the site_name to your path.php =)

Can you confirm that all is working for you now, please?

You may need to clear out your browser cookies and cache before trying, too.

    thanks!

Hi, I did as you asked I cleared my browser cookies and cache and it will still not let me login. So I tried on the old browser that I still had open and it let me login on that browser but then it wouldn’t let me logout, so I closed that browser window cleared cookies and cache again and now I can’t access the site at all, unless I deactive MSM again I’m assuming cuz I haven’t changed my config.php file to let me log in.

nmedd, what browser are you using?  I tested this with Firefox and it all seemed well.
