Hello and thanks for reading this.  My apologies in advance for this EE beginner question.

Are there any technical reasons why I can’t have my EE content contain PHP pages that display custom results from a separate (on the same server) MySQL database?

My client wants a type of extranet where paid members can view certain data from a MySQL DB.  The idea is to create the template pages with the database calls so when a member logs in, they see the result sets.

    Does this make sense?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

I’m not sure what you’re asking here - there is no reason you can’t do this. You would just need to use PHP to connect to the database and queries to pull in that information, and PHP enabled in your templates.

It would be easier if they were in the same database as you could then just use the Query module, but it’s certainly possible otherwise.
