The last book I read on web development was CSS Web Development with Simon Collison. Great book. I would recommend it.

    Currently reading Bulletproof Ajax.

Not exactly a web design book but any web developer who works for themselves should give it a read: The Dip by Seth Godin. Last web book I read was Beginning CSS Web Development by Simon Collison which is very much worth reading even if you’re already a skilled CSS guru.

Learning jQuery and Javascript with Domscripting and AJAX, both highly recommended.
I also enjoyed Web Standards Creativity and Transcending CSS, both of them highly inspirational if you want to push the envelope a bit 😊

I am in the process of reading the starfish and the spider which I highly recommend as it has to do with organizations, their structure and how it affects their ability to stand the test of time.

As for tech books. I really enjoyed Beautiful Web Design. Transcending CSS is amazing. Web Standards Creativity is one that I am currently reading. Next will be a book on PHP.

Oh and who can forget the EE User Guide… Talk about a book!

Sigh, ... the power of the internet. This thread and subsequent surfing has led me to order:

DOM Scripting: Web Design with JavaScript & the Document Object Model
    Prototype and Scriptaculous in Action
    Bulletproof Ajax (Voices That Matter)
    Simply JavaScript

Oh, yes, I’ve taken a sudden interest in javascript. Especially since the recent changes on the apple.com website. Well, that and a website project I am working on 😊

Come on people, the last time I posted on the board I got caught up in a thread where design hardly comingled with development.
A certain designer was catching some heat anyways.
    Ok…
CSS books are design books in my world!
So CSS books don’t count, it is a building block of Design 😛
I’m not sure I’ve ever read a developers book. All a good code monkey needs is the [ctr + C] and [ctr + P] and a few good hacks !!!

Then I’d have to say Dom Scripting, but Learning jQuery is catching up fast.

LOL I’ll be sure to mention that next time a graphic designer gives me a layout to transfer to HTML/CSS 😊

    - Dom Scripting
    - Bulletproof Web Design

    Both excellent books, highly recommended.

After reading this thread I ordered, and just received:
    - Transcending CSS
    - Simply JavaScript
    - Bulletproof Ajax

Could this designer/developer difference have anything to do with coutry or continent?
I get the feeling that HTML/CSS peeps are considered designers in the US and developers in Europe… might be just my perception.

(not trying to hijack the thread btw) 😉
