I have two weblogs that use the same category group, these categories are listed upon the homepage. When a user clicks on one of the categories, they shall be taken to a category archive page displaying the posts from my two weblogs under the one category.

I’ve been checking out the forums, user docs and wiki and I can’t think of any way to do this.

Currently, my category URLs are formed using category names, but this can change.

    Cheers.

    Hi Greg,
in the weblog-entries tag of your archive page, did you include both weblogs like weblog=“myweblogA|myweblogB” to tell EE what entries it may show? Then it should work just fine with category names.

Linking this way {category_name} should bring you to a page with the url “mydomain.com/mytemplategroup/cat_archive/category/eaxmplecategory/” where you can see entries from the weblogs A and B. Does it?

Ah it’s so simple. Never ventured into categories before, so excuse my ignorance. I thought I read somewhere in the docs that you can only specify one weblog in the weblog=” ” parameter. Obviously not.

    Cheers mate, works a charm.

    *edit*

When on the category archive page, EE successfully lists all posts from both weblogs under the current category, but I can’t get it to display the title and description of the current category, how can I do this?

    Thanks

    Ah it’s so simple.

Great it works for you! And that´s one thing that is so nice about EE: how you can twist and bend it to make it show exactly the results you need. Have a nice weekend! Wolfram

I thought I read somewhere in the docs that you can only specify one weblog in the weblog=” “ parameter.

That’s true if you’re using the {exp:weblog:category_archive} tag- but sounds like you’re using the regular weblog tag- which is what you’d want given the desired behavior.

As to showing the category name?  If you’re on a category page- that’s a url with a category indicator in it- then you can use the category heading tag- it will go outside your weblog tag- and gives you access to all of the category info for that particular cat page.

    That do the trick?
