My intention is not to start a new thread about the the same topic but my previous thread closed and didn’t have a chance to thank all of you guys for helping me decide on what machine to buy. Now I feel more comfortable taking a decision based on the a advise of the pros in this forum.

In case your curios… after reading all your good reviews on the Mac I decided to give the 24” iMac a try. I will be ordering it some time next week. I guess the best way to have a personal preference is to try things out… another reason I decided to go for the Mac.

    Thanks Again!  😉

New toys are always good!  Mine is a MacBook, my very first.

I hope you enjoy playing with your iMac as much as I enjoy playing with my MacBook!

I have the now previous gen 24” IMac as my main machine in the office (totally pimped out with ram, bigger harddrive and vidcard) and can attest that it is one sweet machine 😊
    Congrats on the purchase!

I didn’t help you make your decision but I made the complete switch, over the last year (desktop and notebook). I found a few nice surprises once I started using the Mac. One, I could print anything to a PDF file. In Windows, when I wanted to save an article I found on the Net I would copy and paste it—including images—into an email and email it to myself. Now I just print to PDF.

Another is the built in zip function. On a Mac you just highlight the files you want to zip up and select “Create Archive” from the right click menu. And Unzipping is built in; just double click (even Unix tarballs), no third party program to install.

My favorite is the built in dictionary. I tend to use Safari as my main browser simple because the dictionary is available from the right click menu.
