I have posted a few times on this topic, but I still am a little confused as to how I should set up my photo gallery. I will explain my situation as best as I can.
Here’s the process I would like (or something really close):
1) import photo(s) into iPhoto
* already doing this, so no changes required.
2) resize AND transfer photos to gallery according to my gallery structure (explained below)
3) set captions on photos in gallery
The resizing: I need to have the photos resized as they are huuuuuuuge with my camera and 800x600 is more than sufficient for viewing purposes. Uploading the full images would take too long and take up too much disk space.
Gallery organization: I currently have my photos organized by year, then either month or event (sure would be nice to have both though…different views or something?), so when I upload I need a way of indicating which month/event a photo belongs to.
I would like the month/event view to show thumbnails that when clicked on went to the single larger image.
This process needs to be simple so that my wife can do it. I am happy to have an FTP script that she can just drop the photos on to upload (A Transmit Droplet or whatever they are called).
I know some people set the captions as they upload, but that won’t work for me as I would like to get the photos up, then caption them when I have time.
That is my quest.
I *think* for this to work the best I should use a weblog and not the gallery module, but I may be mistaken. I understand phpThumb is the way to go for the thumbnail generation.
I need the most help on the resizing, uploading and the creation of the appropriate filters/categories/views to make my gallery look the way I like.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
