Is it possible for visitors to include/attach an image to be displayed along with their comments using EE or a 3rd party extension? If so, is there any documentation for this? (I see a “Attach files to this post” link below - perhaps this is the solution.)

I’m already running the non-commercial version of EE. This would be for a commercial site.

It’s possible with the forum ‘out of the box’ (as you’ve already noticed).  It’s not with weblog or gallery comments.  I don’t know of a third party extension that does this directly, but I know Solspace.com has integrated attachment for freeform and I believe a frontend gallery uploader along the lines of the standalone entry form.  It might be worth a look there.

I don’t believe it would be massively difficult to write an extension to do it- but you do have to be very careful allowing uploads to the server from the frontend.  Particularly if you plan to allow it for non-logged in folks.
