I’m looking to do a site which will provide notification of events by email or sms message so would use similar functionality to the email subscription module. Just wondered if anyone has worked on this lately and has advice on what to do/not do.

Did the site to provide email notifications (though not live at the moment), but you can play here: http://www.ggjump.com
Will be looking into SMS again shortly.
