Is there a way to view all of the library of images that are uploaded to the server via Thumbnail preview vs. text list?

Do I need to install ImageMagik or another 3rd party to accommodate this feature, or is there a pre-built EE already available?

How are these images uploaded…through the publish area, gallery, ftp? And what text list do you refer?

Through the Publish area. You can browse the uploaded image files by way of text list within the Publish section, but in order to preview an image you wish to add to the article you need to open another window (3 total) and could really take up a lot of time searching for the right photos when there are outside editors and content contributors.
I was reading about the Gallery module earlier (which I am familiar with being a separate copmonent altogether) which would tie the two (Publish + Gallery) together. Is that possible?

I’ll have to step back and hopefully let someone step in here as I’ve not worked with the gallery module much at all.
