So I may have a new client.
They built their site using Yahoo! SiteBuilder.

I havent seen something this poorly like this constructed since I viewed the source of a GeoCities site. I would have said, Myspace, but I’ve never dated view its source code.

So my new client would like to see what I am capable of doing with their site restructure. I’ve got a few mock-ups made for them with static html. Ofcourse, EE will power the backend.

Usually, when I build a site, it is done from scratch. ie: I walk them through the domain purchases, hosting provider, mock-up choices, etc.
But in this recent case, they’ve already got their site built.

Now, forgive me for NOT knowing, but, are we faced with a difficult move ahead of us? Moving them from Yahoos services and onto another host & registrar?

If their Yahoo hosting has PHP/MySQL, you can probably install EE where they already are. So you wouldn’t need to change either their current hosting or their registrar.

It sounds like they just want a makeover.

If you have a nice portfolio of your work, they should be able to get a pretty clear idea of your capabilities.

Personally, I don’t do mock-ups or ANY design work for clients until I’ve got contract in hand and money up front. I also don’t do any html coding or development work until they approve the mock-up, which I make in Photoshop and output as a JPG. In other words, why work for free? Why spend hours doing CSS, design work AND code for a design the client might not approve?

    Thank you for the advice.
I checked on Yahoo, this is what I found regarding php:

Actually, the mockup I created IS a graphical representation, just the LOOKS! 😊
As for xhtml/css/php/ee coding? None whatsoever.
I’ll start that once other issues are in the clear.
