Hi All. I’m working on a redesign of a website for a magazine dealing with interior decorating, remodeling, products, etc.. As you can imagine every article has photos. The photography is actually one of the main draws to the magazine so we’d like to use all the photos that are used in the printed magazine (plus in some cases several that weren’t).
My first thought was to use EE’s built in photo gallery module. But it doesn’t seem to work how I would like it to for this project. First it seems that for every new gallery you create EE creates a new template group and new templates. Can you not reuse template groups/templates across multiple galleries? Second when you link a gallery to a weblog you only get a drop-down list of the individual photos contained within that specific gallery.
I was wondering if there was any way to accomplish the following:
- Define multiple gallery “types” (example: standard article photos, products featured in article, paint/fabric/wallpaper swatches used, etc.)
- Each gallery “type” would use the same template groups/templates
- Each gallery “type” would house multiple galleries, each gallery consisting of one or more photos
- Each gallery “type”/gallery housed within could be linked to an article
I hope that all this makes sense. I’ve spent all day trying to figure out how to plot out this new site and it feels like my head is going to explode. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
