T’was part of their upgrade from 1.6 beta/beta to the full 1.6 according to Paul.
Other than that, I know nothing.

1.6 alpha to 2.0 is more accurate, as we were running a very early form of what became Discussion Forum 2.0.  This has been a long-requested feature to help you find your results, particularly on topics with multiple pages when the results are buried on page X.

Although I think this is a very nice feature I would like to see some changes.

I tend to browse the forums using the “New Topics” and “Mark all posts as read” links (actually have them bookmarked and open them in separate tabs in my browser) and I really don’t see the point in showing these “Keywords found in the following replies:” on the New Topics results page.

It guess it is probably showing me all new replies to the topics but I find it quite distracting as I didn’t really search for any keywords, just new topics.
The page is now at least 3 times longer and the height of the rows is not consistent anymore which makes it harder to read. (or quickly read the titles)

How about putting these new links to replies in a ‘hidden’ element that can be toggled on/off by clicking on an +- icon or link?

Ok, I’m done now, promise 😉

btw, I also think the “Other Resources:” links at the top of that same page are quite useless, but that is another story.

Many have praised that addition, so I deduct 3 points from your other suggestions for the hurtful words!

I considered putting reply results in hidden disclosure divs by default, but that means that if you have 20 results on the page, that’s 20 mouseclicks just to see the reply results—not friendly.  Though I agree that the New Topic Search should probably not list reply results.

Why do you think “Other Resources” links are useless?

    @Lisa

I am referring to the New Topic Search results page.
These “Other Resources” links are actually searches for the words “New+Topic+Search” in the user guide, KB and wiki.

    See screenshot:

Oh, in context - I thought you meant in general.  Nrr. =)

Well, they all use the same search, which is why you don’t see customized results - they’re all just using the standard forum templates, after all, so a change to one effects all the types of searches. =)

Wow you guys are fast today… I didn’t even see your reply Derek.

I do like these “Other Resources” links and use them frequently.
But as you can see in my reply to Lisa they are ehm… ‘not very usefull’ on that particular page.

Do I get my 3 points back now? 😉
