I’ve been running Parallels for about a month now with no problems, then out of nowhere my Parallels’ wireless connection to the internet just stopped working. (No problem with my internet connection on OSX or Bootcamp).

I tried the possible solutions talked about on the Parallels forum regarding this problem, and contacted their tech support several times, but no has responded.

I was wondering if anyone here has had the same problem, and/or can offer some tips for getting Parallels to connect to the internet again.

    Thanks.

so your Mac wireless connection is fine, but Parallels can’t use it?

Hmmm. I know there is a setting for the VM that indicates how you want the networking to be accomplished. Have you checked that?

    Yeah,

I’ve been messing around with the different networking options, I guess it’s just about time to reinstall, start from scratch, and HOPE it doesn’t happen again.

Make sure after you set up your Windows install in Parallels, that you make a clone of your VM. Keep it local, or keep it on a dvd, backup disk whatever. That way, in the event of a catastrophe, you can quickly and easily drop in your cloned version, and you’re up and running.

Even better, get in the habit of cloning your installs. I hear Parallels v3.0 has some nice new backup solutions, but I haven’t yet sprung for it.

I currently run two VMs. One is for every type of browser under the sun, and the other is for XP applications. That way I can run IE 5, 6, 7, and anything else and not interfere with the system setup for applications.

What are the steps for making a clone of the VM?

    Thanks.
