I’ve working on a registration form for a client. It’s a community site, and the client would like to have a set of questions in the registration form that are only for a subset of users.
Is there a way to group these custom fields on the registration page, with a little descriptive language that explains them? It doesn’t seem possible with the custom field template.

I wonder if you found good solution to this problem.
I was able to group the fields by using field_description… its a bit of a hack but it works.
Since field_description can contain HTML codes, you can put your separator codes there.
You will also need to change the registration form template the ensure the description is not contained within a certain table cell.
