Is there a way to assign assign a newly created Category Group to a weblog that was initially created without any category association - meaning, EE was allowed to assign it’s default category to it.

I’ve looked in the weblog Edit Preferences > Administrative Preferences at the Default Category assignment drop down (currently set to default), but I see no way to allow this field to recognize that “Category Groups” other than the Default exist.

    Any way to do this?

    Thanks.

Have you created the new category group?

Yes, I have. And it is accessible when establishing a new weblog, but I don’t see how to make this association with pre-existing weblogs.

That drop down list only contains the categories from the category group that is assigned to that weblog. To change that you will need to go back to the weblog management page and choose the relevant ‘Edit Groups’ link beside your weblog.  To answer your question: No, a newly created category group cannot be automatically assigned to a weblog - EE is still EE, not AI :D

n.b On creation of the group, though, you will be given the opportunity to skip straight to the weblog management page. This saves a _little_ time.

And you’re going to CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management > (pick the existing weblog) > Edit Groups?  If the category group exists, it should show on that page.

    Thank you both.

I was actually digging in one step too far by going to CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management > Edit Preferences…and completely ignoring the Edit Groups option that would make so much sense to have been paying attention to.

    :red: Thanks!
