I wanted in my URLs to show the category names and by reading the docs I saw that it’s possible, But now I must use the field for Category description as the real Category name that will be shown on the web (ex. Film & Music) and I use the Category name for the URL’s (film-and-music).

Is this the right way that is supposed to be done, or I’m using a bad trick, because I don’t want to populate the Description field for my category name, I’ll need it for real description.

I’ll be really glad for little help!

Hello, Braveheart - I would recommend viewing the changelog - categories have undergone some very nice tweaks, including category-url-titles, and custom category fields.

    See the changelog here.

Thats great, but I don’t have the new options on my EE installation, I guess I need to download the updated version, right?

What version are you currently on? These are introduced with 1.6 just a few weeks ago.

Updating to a new version is quite easy, see the docs on updating from an earlier version.

Yes you should do backups always, but you probably won’t need them. =)

I tried updating my EE but it says:

You are currently running ExpressionEngine: Version 1.5.2
This is the most current version!

P.S. I’m still using my EE installation locally, it is a problem!

Did you delete system/updates/ and system/update.php?  It doesn’t sound like you did.

OK I did it, now i updated EE to 1.6.0
But I didn’t noticed any difference at the Category Category Management, it’s still like the older version, and also as I see the 31three theme is not working.

Yes, did you read the version update notes at the bottom of the docs I linked? You need to upgrade to our default theme, which is based off 31three.

You don’t see the manage custom fields in Category Management?

I made it with the 31three theme, now the only problem is with my Category Management, so no don’t see the manage custom fields in Category Management.

But never mind, I exported all the stuff I need and I’ll install EE again with the latest version.

Uh, ok? You don’t have to do that. Just make sure you re-upload the files, and use the default theme - the 31three is not made for 1.6.
