If someone could point me to a thread as I am sure this has been dealt with before. I am using the saef and the form helper plugin to edit my entries but I cant find the code to add to a button for deleting an entry.

    any help greatly appreciated

    regards

Any ideas I need to let the user delete his entry from the database using the stand alone entry form or the stand alone edit form. Someone must have done this.

    many thanks

How about setting the status to ‘Closed’ instead?

thanks I hadnt really thought about that, maybe an on, off and delete state, then work out some way to automatically delete the delete stated records. I assume its possible to only change the status automatically using a stand alone entry form. For example have your list of records(showing only status on or off) with a delete button option, click the delete button you get forwarded to a stand alone entry form page “are you sure you want to delete this record” this has a hidden field status = delete. click submit, staus is then changed to delete, doesnt come up in your list of records. does this sound right?

    many thanks

Sounds good to me. I’m currently developing a site with inline editing and chose to just bypass this issue by allowing records to be hidden rather than deleted, on the basis that a) ability to undo is better than a warning and b) it was less work to set up!
