    hi.

I am using the msm and I wanted to set different registration forms for the different sites, and once members register, they can be put into different member groups, depending on what site/form they use to register… can this be done? and how? thanks!

    Hi, Shaz!

Absolutely.  Have you watched the MSM Video?  At the very end it shows exactly how the member functionality works between sites, and is better seen than explained, for sure.

    But I’ll try to explain.

    For the themes:

All that you need to do is head over to Admin -> Members & Groups -> Membership Profile Templates.  Choose the site whose templates you wish to edit in the Sites drop-down.  Now edit the templates as you wish. =)

For the default group, head to Admin -> Members & Groups -> Membership Preferences.  Make sure you have the site you want to edit chosen (you can double check in the breadcrumb) and choose the default member group.  Hit update. You can then choose a different site and choose a different default member group.

I hope that helps to clarify a bit. Let me know if you need more of an explanation. =)

hey Lisa, I don’t know if you’re still around, but now I get this:

    UM Investments ›  Admin

Unable to locate the member profile templates.

    any ideas?

The member profile templates appear to be the same across sites. if I set it to one site and change the registration page, for example, it changes in all the sites. And it’s giving me a random “unable to locate the member profile templates” possibly because I am switching a lot.

still working on this - after many, many hours! what am I missing? somehow I cannot find a way to set up a different profile template for each site. what i need is really simple, just a registration form that looks different in each site, and automatically putts registered members into the correct member group (one default per site)

I also tried the standalone form from the wiki, but it also did not work.

You can change the template folder @

Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration

so that every site has it’s own template folder on the server
