Has anyone ever made something like this? I’m thinking where the client can just enter the current total into a weblog field and a script figures out the percentage of the goal amount and creates a graphic that displays and graph/thermometer. I’ve created the front end of something like this before but I’m wondering if I can make this happen with EE.

Yes, exactly like you said: Get the total, calculate the percentage, and display. Will need some PHP, but should be doable.
