Getting redirected to CP Home after saving changes

First of all, I’m running EE 1.6 latest build. But this is something that has happening to me for a long time with many EE versions, but I thought I should finally ask for a hint.

No matter if I’m creating/editing an entry, editing templates or preferences, after saving/submitting I’m getting redirected to the control panel home without changes being saved. This happens not always, but often. Sometimes this also happens when I’m trying to make a comment on an EE powered blog. After submitting the comment the page reloads without saving the comment.

I’m sure this has something to do with the fact that I’m sitting behind a firewall because it only happens to me when I’m *cough* at work *cough*. Because of this I guess I could change this behaviour with changing some security settings in the system preferences, but I don’t kno where to start, I have no clue.

    Any help is appreciated.

It’s likely do to proxy / IP rotation, where the IP reassignment occurs in between the page being delivered to you and your form submission.  When you submit, it no longer recognizes you as the person who the form was rendered for because your IP has changed.  You could try disabling the Secure Forms feature, but I wouldn’t really advise that unless it’s really necessary.  It’s a basic security precaution that prevents a whole nest of attack vectors.

And it just happened again when I wanted to say thank you for your fast reply 😉

At least I now know the cause for this weird (for me) behaviour.
