    Hi,

I’ve followed the upgrade instructions to the letter but when I attempt to run update.php, I get the following error message:

Notice: Undefined variable: conf in /home/stign3/public_html/system/update.php on line 58

Warning: require(./db/db..php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/stign3/public_html/system/update.php on line 58

Warning: require(./db/db..php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/stign3/public_html/system/update.php on line 58

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘./db/db..php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/stign3/public_html/system/update.php on line 58

Thoughts on what I should do next?  I renamed my system folder in the former installation (but have changed back to ‘system’ in this post to keep it secret).

Robin, can you check to see if you have a valid config.php file?

Surprising, the config file was empty when I looked.  But after restoring tonight’s backup config, the update.php page still generates the same error message.

Thanks for the amazingly quick response, though.

Here’s something strange: it seems that each time I run update.php, the config.php file is being erased.

Success!  It turns out that update.php was deleting my config.php file.  I got things to work by uploading my backup copy after visiting update.php but before clicking the link to begin the 1.52 to 1.6 conversion.  A bit of dark magic…but it worked.

Thanks for steering me towards the config.php file.

    Best,
    Robin

Sorry all, the download has been hotfixed; turns out the circumvention I added to help Windows servers recognize whether or not a file was actually writable had a wee error that truncated the file when opening it.  So, can I blame Windows?  :\

Thank you for reporting this problem, guys.  This has been fixed in the latest download.
