    Hello all of you !

I manage a genral news site with Expression Engine. Il works ok.

Then the site is growing and growing… The problem is that I have more and more catégories : name of every continent, country, themes (econmy, politics, security, etc).

And When I add a new one, it goes somewhere in the list of categories… and not where I want it : I decided to organize the list of categories by meaning (custom) and not alphabetically.

Then, to move the category name to it wright place in the list, I have tot do it step by step. Lest’s say 10 steps or sometimes 20 steps !

    My question :
is there a way to creat a category then to move it quickly to wright place or to create it directly in a correct place ?

    Thank You.

There isn’t currently a way to do this, short of direct database manipulation which I would be wary of.  I can move this to the feature request forum for you if you’d like?

I think, it’s possible to add a custom number field in the categories’table.
what do you think about ?

You might be able to do this with an extension, or hacking.  But I think the best place for that is in our How-to forums.

    Hi Lisa !
do you have a precise extension in mind ? (to ad a field “custom_number” in the categories’ table of the database)

Nope, I don’t, as far as I know there isn’t one for this particular use.  It’s something you’d have to look at coding yourself. =)
