    I’m upgrading from 1.5.2 to 1.6.0
I very stupidly overwrote my config file - I think I fixed that with the sample config file I found in the wiki - now I’m getting this error when running the update script:

Error: The following error was encountered
    MySQL ERROR:
    Error Number: 1060
    Description: Duplicate column name ‘ignore_list’
Query: ALTER TABLE exp_members ADD `ignore_list` text not null AFTER `sig_img_height`

All my data still seems to be in the database and I’ve backed that up.

    Very sorry for my foolishness…

It happens not infrequently.  Hm- well, you could restore the old database, set the app_version in the config.php file to 152- then re-run the upgrade.

Or- we can step through it and try to spot where it broke.  Looks like it’s trying to create the ignore_list field- but it’s already in there.  Let’s see- that alteration occurs in the 1.5.2 upgrade.  You were already running 1.5.2- right?  So, the upgrade shouldn’t have been mucking with it.  When you pull up the upgrade interface- what’s the link say?  I mean- what’s it tell you you’re upgrading from->to?  My bet is, the ap_version is wrong in the config- so it’s trying to do an upgrade to a version that’s already installed.  IF that’s the case, a simple edit of the config.php to show the correct app version should allow the upgrade to run through smoothly- which would be easier than re-installing the whole backup db.

That was the trick! Thanks so much!
