I’m trying to learn this system from a start. The main idea is to establish a documentary site (some kind of on-line encyclopedia) with the possibility to add new materials to main catalog from a user’s community supposed to working in ee-wiki environment. There are two sides of a medal: final material should be not editable, but it is desirable that users can use wiki to prepare all documentation from a start. Is it possible?

    Hi, Alex—

    I am sorry you didn’t receive a response as quickly as you would have liked. I would like to point out that you posted on a Sunday and it is always good to give at least a few hours on a weekday to see if there’s a response.

    Because wiki pages are created by a URL it is simple to do this. Just create a link in your template to the wiki something like:

    Write in the wiki about {title}

    Then all the person needs to do is click the link and start editing.

    Thanks for the answer! I guess I know how to invoke wiki in general, but I still have no idea about if there is a way to convert somehow standard wiki articles into so called “static” articles. That what I’m looking for. Also, I know that I should make a wiki template group, but what about wiki weblog? Should I also great wiki blog as well? And the same with forum module – should I make a forum template group and forum weblog? How exactly wiki and forum modules put their articles in db if they don’t have theirs weblogs? Are they using default weblog or what?

    alex7, there isn’t an automatic method to create weblog entries from wiki entries. You’d have to do so manually.

    That’s an interesting idea, though.

    Forums and Wikis are stand alone modules. They don’t share data with any weblog entries. The Wiki modules comes with the Personal and Commercial versions of EE. The Forum module you’d need to purchase separately.

    Having said that: You can automate saving an entry to a forum entry (custom extension), and I put in a similar link like Lisa mentioned to make a wiki link. But I have to manually make the wiki entry.

    Maybe somebody knows where I can find someone who can develop this kind of extension (or plugin)? If necessary I’m ready to pay for this job, but I’d like to be able to give that “module” (ext., plug. and so on) to this community free of charge.

    If you would like to hire someone for this project, you would be best to contact someone on the Pro Network or by posting an ad on our Job Board.
