Does the pages module only come with personal and commercial versions?

That is correct - it is not available in EECore.

I was all excited. Now I’m sad… :(

Upgrading to the Professional or Commercial versions gives you the ability to do the following:

1. Use the Query Module. You can use PHP and manually do queries, but it is so much easier to use the module.

2. Ability to purchase the Forum and MSM

3. The Pages module.

4. Official support on the EE Forum. We staff from about 7am - 10pm EST on Monday thru Friday, Sunday mornings. At other times we pop up the forums depending on real life requirements. 😊

5.  You’d be contributing to the financial success of the company enabling us to keep the programming staff hard at work on bug fixes and product updates.

Is it worth $99 for that extra functionality? I think it is.

I left out a few other extras you get with the Commercial/Professional versions, but the ones I mentioned are the ones I use.

You forgot “coolness” factor.

I was surprised to learn that the pages module is not available with EE Core. All the other features that are left out of Core are understandable and not really needed for “simple” sites/blogs but I feel that the ability to simply create static pages is different. It’s the “core” of the simplest of sites. I’d like to petition for it to be added to Core.

Btw, I do own a commercial license but many of the sites I manage are for very small, non-profit groups that can’t even afford the personal license. In fact, most of them I build and maintain for free.

Well, we managed so far, and I, for one, am not going to use the Pages module because I simply don’t need it. You may also continue to use Mark’s “Tome” module.

Tae, I agree with you. If the Core version is for small, simple sites, they probably need the Pages module most of all, as it isn’t possible to create static pages without programming in EE. The kind of small, non-profit groups you describe will benefit from point-and-click customisation, as they may be unable to hire developers.

General question: when will the Pages module be included in the live demo for evaluation? It doesn’t seem to be in there now.

Of course it is possible to create static pages “withouth programming”. That sounds much harder than it really is.

The 30 day trial is always a feew days or even weeks behind, so I expect it to be upgraded soon.
