OK, something odd has happened after doing all this….that 1.6.0 showed up in the header and footer of my control panel. Go figure.

    😊

Wow.  I can’t even begin to think how that could happen.  MAMP caching a PHP array key’s value, across independent requests, and being selective about it?  This is Friday right?

...but it’s not the 13th. I hope it clears up for Wolfram too.

So while you were working hard I have been out for a Pizza (ok, and a beer) I just returned and started with deleting the “exit(‘yep!’);” in my config.php and thought I could give Firefox a chance ... version 1.6 ... I tried Safari ... 1.6. So maybe all that was needed was temporarily modifying the config.php and saving it again? Case closed I guess.
(I will have a second chance to see if it is just about saving the config.php, when I update the local client projects in MAMP.)

Thanks everybody, once again great support from the people at EllisLab!

Wow.  Second case of a self-healing EE install I’ve had tonight 😉  Must have been the pizza and beer…

Derek, it even works with coffee, as I found out. I updated another local install within MAMP. Same story. The fix: open the config.php, type something, suggestion is “exit(’Groundhog Day!’);”. Look at it, delete the line again and everything will be fine:-)  (If you want to try this at home: MAMP is a free download and everything installs inside the MAMP folder, so you can delete it again easily, if you wish.)
