After upgrading to 1.6, I have no drop-down menu to choose control panel theme, either in System Preferences or in My Account > Customize Control Panel.  See images below

Check your /themes/cp_themes/ folder.  ExpressionEngine needs to read its contents, so make sure it has permissions that will allow that on your server.

Hi, Andrea. Before you were using 1.6, which CP theme were you using?

In your cp_themes directory, which themes are there?

Permissions are OK on the /themes/cp_themes folder.

I was using the 31Three theme before I upgraded, and removed it before upgrading.  I have Classic and Default now in the cp_themes directory.  When I first upgraded, I had a download with only the Default theme.  I got a new download that included Classic an hour or so later and added it.

What are the permissions on that folder and for the folders inside of it?  The reason I ask is that the only way there would be no select is if EE was unable to read any folders from that directory.

Permission are 755 for all the folders within themes.  I also have a set-up where I need to copy the cp_themes directory into the system directory for the CSS to be read—this has permissions of 755 as well.  Could this possibly be the issue, though?

Andrea, look up the value of cp_theme for your record in exp_members. Does that theme mentioned there still exist? If it doesn’t manually change the name to default, and see if that fixes things.

Strange.  There was nothing in that database field.  Adding default there fixed some minor display issues I was having with the cp theme, but there are still no select boxes.

Yeah, Sue, that would fix a display issue for the theme, but the list of themes and the select box is still tied to reading the contents of that directory.

I guess, send me FTP and EE Control Panel access so I can take a look, please.

I figured it out—my Theme Folder Path in General Configuration was wrong.  Once I fixed it, I got the select boxes.

    Thanks for your help!
