Install Error: Config.php does not have correct permissions

Running into an error when running the install wizard for EE 2.9.2 on CentOS LAMP setup. When I click begin, the installer tells me that the config.php file does not have 666 permissions.

According to the server admin, the root has access to the www folder and the group is owned by Apache a couple of other developers.

The config and database php files, along with the other file/folder permissions are indeed set correctly.

Any ideas what might be wrong with this set-up?
