    Hello,

I’m trying to do a fresh EE install, and encountering an error with the wizard. The message I’m getting is

    A Database Error Occurred

Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

    Filename: controllers/wizard.php

    Line Number: 1600

I have double and triple checked my credentials, and also tried DBtest which is able to connect.

Could be a few things. Try substituting ‘localhost’ for 127.0.0.1. Also did you select MySQL or MySQLi as db type?

Tried 127.0.0.1 with no luck. It’s a MySQL database so I selected that, but did also try with MySQLi.

You on Rackspace Cloud hosting by chance? I have seen them come up a lot in conjunction with this (or similar) error and usually boils down to service config error.

    Lunarpages actually.

Is there something in phpinfo that I should be looking for?

Mainly PHP 5.3.10 or newer and MySQL 5.0.3 or newer.

You can grab the server wizard here to doublecheck requirements:
    https://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/requirements.html

This thread is older but may help as someone else on LunarPages had some config issues:

Thanks. Unfortunately, tried the IP / combination in that thread and still no luck. According to phpinfo I have the requirements.

Did you run the EL wizard in the link above?

    Just did.

I’m getting an error “The field Hostname is required.”. Obviously, I’ve made sure to fill in the hostname in the previous page.

edit: it seems like my server wasn’t processing post variables for some strange / inexplicable reason. I moved the location of the document root, and boom, it works. Thank you!
