I notice that during the setup process there is now (since 2.9.1 I believe) the option to choose MYSQLi as the database driver rather than MYSQL. Is there any particular reason to choose one over the other? The installation page in the docs doesn’t mention what the difference is, and since I’m not a MYSQL expert I don’t know whether I should opt for the new ‘i’ version or stick to plain old MYSQL.

On a related note, I also see that the choice is recorded in the database.php file; if I decide that I chose the wrong one in the installation wizard, is the correction as simple as editing database.php? Or is it more deep-rooted than that?

Sorry to ask what might seem an obvious question to some, but I’m a designer not a database expert so this is a new one for me. Thanks.
