More of a Pre-Sales question but that section is gone.

So I have a client that I’m upgrading there 6 year old site and they want to split it into two.  Before the two divisions of the company shared one site.

Now that they want to do two I am attempting to figure out the solution for this.  In my head there will be a main index page where you select products or readymix from there you’re taken to products.website.com or readymix.website.com

They currently run an old expression engine 1.7.2 but will be doing an upgrade.  I was figuring on MSM to help keep the backends separate for their ease of updating and piece of mind.

Will we have to purchase Upgrade + MSM + Second EE package or Just the upgrade + MSM ?

    Thanks,
    John

Upgrade + MSM should do it. I run two sites that way, with a main site at main.domain.com, and a secondary site at other.domain.com. Single EE install. The directory for the main site has the EE install, and a separate directory has some additional files for the secondary site, but uses the same install. You just need to be able to direct incoming calls to the right directory for each domain, but that shouldn’t be a problem.

    HTH.
