I purchased EE 2.9 a couple of days ago, and today being a Saturday I installed it. All was just fine until for some reason the error message below flagged up. I can access the EE demo site ok, and on the Admin side of things I can get to the admin page. But when I try to log in, this message comes up again.
    Can anyone help ??

Try to check the PHP version inside your Xampp installation.

    Server Requirements:

PHP 5.3.10 or newer, compiled with the GD (or GD 2) library

      MySQL 5.0.3 or newer

At least 32 MB memory allocated to PHP

At least 10 MB of available disk space for the ExpressionEngine software and modules

At least 2 MB of database space

    Thank you for that.
I will do as you say and let you know the result. So far I have resolved the problem by re installing EE.
But I am afraid to click around too much in case of a repeat, so it’s no solution at all really.

As I said, I would check things out and get back to you.
It seems that it is debatable if XAMPP can work properly on a 64 bit system. So, to resolve this I have removed XAMPP and used WAMP instead. That most certainly does have a 64 bit version.

Mind you, I was given a hint in one of my two tutorial books.

Ryan Irelan in his book “Expression Engine 2 - A Quick Start Guide” does not state that XAMPP is not up to the job, but he does state that he found WAMP perfectly good for everything in his book. After I have completed this tutorial, I will move on to the other book by Michael Boyink ....

Thanks for the information! I didn’t know about a problem with EE and XAMPP.
