We have been having an intermittent issue where we get a 504 (Gateway Timeout) error when we try to publish or edit content. The issue is getting progressively worse—today we can’t edit certain blog posts on our site because we get the dreaded 504 when we even try to open to post to make a change. When we can publish content, it is very slow.
We have checked our server logs, and we can’t find a source of the problem or any performance issues. This is a time of year where our traffic slows so it’s not a traffic issue.
We got a notice from webmaster tools today that Googlebot encountered 69 errors when attempting to connect to our site. Not sure if this is related, but the timing is certainly suspicious.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Or can you think of a good place for us to start in trying to problem solve this?
