We are getting ready to migrate from an old version of EE to the newest one. The problem we have now is that our original developer has long since retired and we do have any installers for the Plugins.

Is there an easy way to determine which plugins we need to migrate over to the new site? There is about a list of 10 or so, and we didn’t want to move any unnecessary plugins over that weren’t being used. We aren’t 100% sure which plugins are even currently being used on the site…

Plus if we dont have the installers, is there a way to obtain them so we dont have to pay for the plug-in again?

Any easy way to accomplish these tasks?

    Nope.

    😉

I assume you really mean “add-ons” when you say “plugins” - because your upgrade process will require you to look at modules, extensions, and plugins.

Some add-ons aren’t updated by the authoring developer and aren’t compatible with the newer version of EE.

Some add-ons are made redundant because of new features added to EE.

You’ll need to inspect the code and installation to see what installed add-ons are being used.

For each add-on being used you’ll need to see if a newer version is available.

If a newer version isn’t available you’ll need to see if the older version works with the newer version of EE.

You’ll also need to compare the featureset of the current version of EE to see if the add-on is still required.

Make a backup so you can experiment on in rather than the live site.

There is no easy answer here.
