We recently started creating our site in EE and added around 50 pages.

All of a sudden - there are no pages visible under “Pages” in the admin section
On the front end - all links point to home page

When I go to Content > Edit —- all pages are in it

So the page_uri is missing and after researching….

The values encrypted and is saved in exp_sites table. I had a blank column.

How do I solve this problems? I will have a few thousand pages.

Can someone direct me to the best practices for creating 1000+ pages in EE?
I cannot afford to have the value disappear from the DB

    Welcome to the forums

The Pages module isn’t really intended for large numbers, it’s best use is for all those odd pages that don’t always fit as regular channel entries, think things like terms and privacy pages. That said you may have hit a database field limit, it was a known bug in 2.7.3 but may be fixed in a newer version - https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/20081/site_pages-field-allows-for-a-limited-number-of-pages

For adding 1000+ “pages” you really need to be looking at using regular channel entries (not using the Pages module), try to think in terms of “content” and not “pages”, EE is after all a ‘content’ management system.

    Thank you Rob

I am creating everything in content and creating a link.

Can you point me to any doc that provides information/tutorial on channel entries and how these have been used for large websites

This site will be on an intranet with 10-12 departments and each with a lot of content (so example payroll having 100+ content (pages)

    There are a few tutorials around, here’s a couple…

    http://www.train-ee.com/courseware/free-tutorials
    https://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/how_to/building_a_simple_news_site.html

A lot of setting up and EE site is in the planning, think about the different types of information you may need (channels), then in each channel look at what fields you need for the data…

For instance if you have a Staff channel for staff bios/info you may want various fields such as

    Title (name)
    Job name
    Department (could be a category)
    Photo
    Description/Bio

PS it’s a good idea to set up a development site where you can test things out before adding them to the production site, there are many ways of doing things in EE so make sure you play and test first!
