My hosting provider (Dreamhost) is phasing out PHP 5.2 and I am being migrated to 5.4, which means I had to finally bite the bullet and inevitably upgrade from EE 1.6 to 2.8. (My site running EE 1.6 crashed during the PHP 5.3 upgrade, but I still had the option to use PHP 5.2 for it to work. But in a few months that won’t be the case anymore.)

    I followed the instructions here:
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/upgrade_from_1.x.html

    But am getting this message:
“The system path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open your path.php file and correct the path.”

I checked path.php, and it’s set to “system”, which is the new directory installed. (My old one was named something else, in accordance to the 1.x instructions).

    What do I do?
