White screen when end users try to login or logout of front-end of site

We are running a site that was just updated to 2.8.1. The issue that I’m running into is that trying to log in, log out an end-user through the front-end results in a blank white screen. Trying to reload the page changes nothing, but going back to the original URL shows that the login/logout did occur.

Any thoughts? The site is not very usable to end users at this point.

I suspect that something there isn’t 2.8.1-ready (Woo?). I’d be looking at rolling back to the previous version you upgraded from.
