    I have a site I moved from one server to another and everything looks good but when I try and edit an entry the changes are accepted and saved, but when I view the front/public page the changes/edits are not being shown.

    If I go back and look at the entry, the changes are still saved, just not on the front end.

    This is an EE 1.7.3 site

    I checked my config file and the database settings are correct.  How could the changes be saved on the back end but not the front end?

    Strangely I can add a new entry or delete an entry, just not make an edit

    Sounds like a caching issue. When you publish/delete a new entry EE clears the caches. It doesn’t do that for edits.

    How do I clear the cache?

    If I duplicate the template the new one works.

    Strange that 2 templates with the exact same code work differently. I have cleared all the cache data under admin > Utilities > Clear Cache Data and the template cache is set to NO

    If I create a new field in the weblog and then view it in the old template it does not parse.  Shows up as {field_name}

    But in the new duplicated template it works fine.

    Caching is URL based so that could still explain it as your new template would show the content at a different URL.

    You found the way to clear caches - but since you also had a server move in there I’d be inspecting things at the server level as well.

    If you rejigger the template names does it work?

    Yes if I change the template name it works.

    Then were it me I’d chalk it up to one of life’s great unexplained mysteries (many of which involve caching I think) and move on…;)

    I think that is a good idea.  I simply duplicated the entire template group and we seem to be back up to speed
