Its been a month now since EE2.8.1 was released, and Im still waiting for 3rd party devs to make their add-ons working with EE.

I dont mind waiting week or two to see how many new bugs these Feature Releases comes with, but a month and waiting for others to get their much needed add-ons working with core.

I wish that EllisLab would work closer with major add-on devs in these type of situations and earlier, so that end users could get their hands on new versions as well, a bit faster than a month+ after releasing date.

Its the first time for me, that I actually had to wait this long, after 2007.

So please, consider to improve your co-operating with biggest and popular add-on devs such as Solspace, Devdemon etc.

    Thank you.

    Hi Riverboy,

Sorry to hear you’re still having trouble with add-on compatibility.

We do work with third-party developers before a major version of ExpressionEngine is released. For about a month before release, we have what we call a “developer preview” where add-on developers get the chance to test out their add-ons with the latest version of ExpressionEngine. They also have the opportunity to speak with us directly about any problems they encounter and work with us to find a solution, and we make sure the issue is taken care of before we release. We had developers do this and their add-ons were ready to go at launch.

As for why some add-ons haven’t caught up to 2.8, it isn’t very clear. It could be that not all developers choose to take advantage of the developer preview, or they did not have the resources to devote to testing their add-ons during the preview. Either way, if there are further compatibility issues or problems with the developer preview process, we aren’t aware of them unless they are communicated.

For the add-ons you’re still waiting on, it may be a good idea to encourage them to contact us for help in resolving their problems, or let them know about the developer preview program so they can take advantage of testing time before release. We’re always open to feedback on both compatibility issues as well as our developer preview process, and we want to make sure we’re doing what we can to make the transition between feature releases as smooth as we can.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I knew about the developer preview but I thought there was something else going on, because it has taken this long and Am still waiting.

I dont want to trouble Solspace, and rather wait until they do their job in peace.

I don’t think that a post to their forums by a customer would be harmful, just as your post here for the same was perfectly understandable. They do seem to be making progress, but they have not communicated any issues to us, so you might get a more informative response asking there.

It seems that this time there has been good road for the next release, but please, try to remember to include all the bug fixes that are marked as “fix is in Upcoming Release”. At this moment there is 48 of those.

    Thank You.

So excited for the update. Bugs are driving me crazy. A lot of my addons are not reacting the same before the update.
